How might our lives be different if we stopped making automatic, negative judgments about the people and situations we encounter daily?
What if we approached strangers with respect rather than fear and apprehension?
I try to seek out the good in everyone, which is admittedly difficult. It takes a lot of mindfulness and determination to be an open and compassionate person. Its easier to find fault in someone else than it is to look within ourselves for biases and unfair assumptions. Sometimes we're offended by people's actions because they look too much like our own. Sometimes because they look too different. Do they always threaten us, and if so, is it always a bad thing?
I don't think so. I'm going to need to work on this more.
